[EFC Blue Ribbon - Free Speech Online]

Values of life and value of family for you
What are your values of life, is it your family, freedom, your culture of personal values that you have achieved and preserved that deserve your protection and a high ranking priority in life ? Are you aware of your true values in life and do you protect and support or promote these values ?

Teaching Values in Your Family
Family is more than a place where we eat and sleep; it is the place where we learn what matters most. If all we do in families is manage groceries and sleeping space, we have missed the great opportunities to teach the great lessons about being human. The most important way to teach values is by example. Do we teach kindness by the way we treat each other in the family? Do we teach service by the way we reach out to people around us? Do we teach resourcefulness by the way we solve problems? Children learn by example.

Science and human values
Let us look at human values as a scientist looks at the phenomenon he chose for studying. What do we mean by human values? First of all, this is something we appreciate and want to have, or achieve. Values are something we qualify as good, and are prepared to set as our goals in life. Second, we usually do not include satisfaction of our physical needs into the concept, even though we appreciate it and have to achieve it all the time, often simply in order to survive. It would be fair to say that the concept of values describes that part of our goals which are not immediately necessary for survival. We call these aspects of life spiritual, as opposed to the other aspects, which are re ferred to as physical, or biological.

core shared values
Values are determined by the beliefs we hold. They are the ideas about what someone or a group thinks is important in life and they play a very important part in our decision making. We express our values in the way we think and act.

Career Test for the Soul
Often in considering career options we focus too heavily on external issues, such as "how much money can I make" or on what others (e.g. my peers, family, boss, or organization) expect of me? But this is the wrong starting point. Before I worry about what others expect, or even at what I might be good at, I need to do some real soul searching and look at what I want.

Human Values for the 21st Century
The 21st century promises to be a time of scientific and technological growth at a level never before experienced in human history. This growth will either trigger chaos, disruption, war, starvation and disease or will introduce a period of humanistic cooperation, development, progress, and peace. What emerges will depend upon which values are embraced, taught, encouraged, and legislated. The value choices, which must be deliberately chosen and not left to chance, must be secular, global, and familial. The accepted values must be embraced, taught, encouraged, and supported internationally, nationally, locally, and personally. What is proposed here represents some of the value choices, the ethical building blocks, that will enable a world of peace and harmony to come into existence--a world in which human diversity is respected and tolerated and, at the same time, a world in which each individual will be enabled and encouraged to maximize his or her potential, without discrimination and in an atmosphere of freedom.

Energizing your Life with your Values
Think for a moment and consider the things you most enjoy doing: a walk in the forest or a day at the beach, watching a beautiful sunset or re-potting your plants, painting a picture, helping someone, completing a project on time or skiing down a mountain. When was the last time you had that experience and what was it like for you? Was it wonderful, full of fun and laughter, exhilarating? Did you feel alive, energised, at peace, connected, happy?

Computer Human Values
As computers and digital devices increasingly insert themselves into our lives, they do so on an ever increasing social level. No longer are computers merely devices for calculating figures, graphing charts, or even typing correspondence. When producers of the first personal computers initially launched them into the market over 20 years ago, they could think of no better use for them than storing recipes and balancing one’s checkbook. They couldn’t predict how deep computers (and related devices) would seep into our lives.

In what may human values' consist?
Much controversy arises or is made out of the question of values; what is meant by 'values'? Which values are good and which bad, if any? Which values are to be tolerated even if their rightness is controversial? Has one a right to express and teach values? Can any science or doctrine be neutral with regard to values? These are key issues of psychic and social development, not facts merely to observe and describe.

A Dialogue About Citizenship
Historically, many people have faced formidable barriers to participation, leaving many at the mercy of the welfare system and government care agencies. But when everyone is welcomed into communities and given all the rights and responsibilities of full citizens, communities will be strengthened, neighbourhoods enlivened and social institutions revitalized. People with disabilities have valuable perspectives on community and citizenship to lend to the national discussion on social policy. Now, with the support of the J.W. McConnell Family Foundation, we are bringing those ideas to all Canadians.

Human Life and Problems
As human beings we have achieved a level of material progress we would not have even dreamed of barely a century ago. The marvels of modern technology have given us enormous power over the forces of nature. We have conquered many disasters but the ultimate question is: 'Are we happier than our ancestors were in the past?' The answer is: 'No'. The abuse of women, children and the underprivileged religious and racial discrimination, color bar, and caste distinction continue on unabated. Perhaps those who enjoy material comforts suffer more acutely than their 'poor' fellow beings. Mental illnesses, stress and loneliness are some of the serious problems we now face in our modern society. But the vital question is: Who is responsible for all the evils that haunt the world today?'

History the Universal Declaration of Human Rights
From 1948, when the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted and proclaimed, until 1976, when the International Convenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) and The International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR), entered into force the Universal Declaration stood alone as the international standard of achievement for all peoples and all nations . Today the Universal Declaration, along with the Convenants make up the International Bill of Rights.

It is time to talk about human responsibilities
Without a proper balance, unrestricted freedom is as dangerous as imposed social responsibility. Great social injustices have resulted from extreme economic freedom and capitalist greed, while at the same time cruel oppression of people's basic liberties has been justified in the name of society's interests or communist ideals.

Questions and answers about the Universal Declaration of Human Rights
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights is the basic international pronouncement of the inalienable and inviolable rights of all members of the human family. The Declaration was proclaimed in a resolution of the General Assembly on 10 December 1948 as the "common standard of achievement for all peoples and all nations" in respect for human rights. It lists numerous rights - civil, political, economic, social and cultural - to which people everywhere are entitled.

Universal Responsibility and Our Global Environment
As the twentieth century draws to a close, we find that the world has grown smaller. The world's people have become almost one community. Political and military alliances have created large multinational groups, industry and international trade have produced a global economy. Worldwide communications are eliminating ancient barriers of distance, language and race. We are also being drawn together by the grave problems we face: overpopulation, dwindling natural resources, and an environmental crisis that threatens our air, water, and trees, along with the vast number of beautiful life forms that are the very foundation of existence on this small planet we share.

Ethical Legislation and Conventions
The purpose of this web page is to guide researchers towards the most important reference texts in the area of ethics in research. It offers an access to the most important pieces of European legislation and international conventions, as well as international declarations and codes of conduct relevant to research activities. It also gives access to a series of opinions of the European Group on Ethics that are relevant to research activities.

Human Values Network
We have all of the necessary elements for creating a peaceful, safe and nurturing environment for all of the Peoples of this Earth. We have intelligence, yet we lack wisdom. We have science and technology, yet much scientific endeavor is dedicated to destruction and weapons, rather than benefiting humankind. Medical marvels are inequitably distributed. We understand Human development and the needs for nutrition and healthful living conditions, yet children the world over are starving by the thousands.

Near Death Experience Research Foundation

These include NDE-like experiences, out of body experiences, and spiritually transformative events.

The Fathers Day Coalition for Peace
After 27 years, the last three of which featured large, peaceful protests (and 27 arrests), the Hamilton War Show has ceased operations. The announcement was made following the end of the 2001 show. While down-playing the role of protest and actions opposing the show, there can be no doubt the activities of the FDCP created a climate where continuing to promote militarism was increasingly difficult for the war show organizers, both in terms of financial and moral grounds

Fellowship of Reconciliation
" The nonviolent approach does not immediately change the heart of the person. It first does something to the hearts and souls of those committed to it...it calls up resources of strength and courage that they did not know they had." - ( Martin Luther King, Jr. )

Justice Not Vengeance
Justice Not Vengeance (JNV) is an anti-war group which has developed out of ARROW (Active Resistance to the Roots of War). JNV opposes the US-UK 'war on terrorism', and campaigns for a peaceful resolution of international conflicts, based on justice and equality. JNV has adapted the core principles developed by ARROW.

Conscience Canada
As conscientious objectors to military taxation (COMTs), we choose to follow the dictate of our conscience and refuse to pay for war. As A.J. Muste once said, "there is no way to peace, peace is the way"... and so we, as conscientious objectors, do our best to end our complicity with killing and war. We commit ourselves to work for peace and justice.

Humanist Association of Canada
Although the Association endeavors to provide certain rites of passage and other services traditionally provided by religious institutions, this fact does not in any way imply that Humanism is a religion. The Association defines Humanism as being inherently and intrinsically secular, non-religious, non-theistic, and non-supernatural.

"Accommodating people’s growing demands for their inclusion in society, for respect of their ethnicity, religion, and language, takes more than democracy and equitable growth. Also needed are multicultural policies that recognize differences, champion diversity and promote cultural freedoms, so that all people can choose to speak their language, practice their religion, and participate in shaping their culture—so that all people can choose to be who they are."

Fathers Canada 4 Justice
Fathers Canada is a activist Web site in opposition to the Radical man hating verity of socialism and Feminism and this website came about to help people, to have a better life and to improve society as a whole, as Fathers Canada is only a voice in favor of "defending liberal western democracy." Anyone who objects to the style of the material on this website should be aware, everything here is of the same style that I have found on feminist resources and websites. The Whole point is to hold up a mirror. As my Freedom and Rights and my Children's Freedom of Rights are not for sale at any price.

Canadian Children Rights Council
The children's rights movement calls it "child identity fraud". The father's rights movement calls it "paternity fraud". It's the same thing by a different name. There are 3 victims: the child, the biological father and the male falsely identified by the mother to be the child's father.

Canadian Coalition for the Rights of Children
The mandate of the Coalition is to ensure a collective voice for Canadian organizations and youth concerned with the rights of children as described in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and the World Summit for Children Declaration.

Child Poverty: The Situation in Canada
Canada is one of the richest countries in the world. However, about 1,400,000 of its children live in poverty (almost one and a half million). Children of single parents and those of aboriginal descent have suffered the most. More than ten years ago, Members of Parliament in the House of Commons in Ottawa voted unanimously to end child poverty in Canada by the year 2000. It is now the year 2003 and the number of poor kids in Canada has increased by more than 463 thousand. In Ontario, one of Canada's richest provinces, child poverty has more than doubled.

LINKS For Families and Children
Vigilance and responsibility are the only safeguards of our families, of our liberties.Never have these duties been more urgent for us as citizens than today, with child-stealing agendas running rampant. The artillery that scares them most is not parents' fury, but our simple confidence and faith. Not lawsuits alone, but most of all, an informed citizenry. Not lone ranger bravado, but ordinary parents and patriots - workin' together. And most of all, they fear the truth. So tell it. Find a worthy ear to share with. Tell it straight. Tis worth the cost. End the cover-up. Hear the childrens' cry.

Our aim is to help reform Canadian government and business institutions to bring them into line with the realities of a modern, working democracy.

Nathanson Centre - Organized Crime and Corruption - Canada
There is an urgent need for research, policy development, law reform and education in the field of organized crime and corruption. Domestic challenges have been enhanced by globalization, which generates new opportunities but also creates new vulnerability to organized crime and corruption. Since organized criminals seek out countries known to have less effective regulatory and enforcement systems, any jurisdiction that does not have adequate defences is at risk and may cause risk to other countries. As perhaps never before, the policies and enforcement capabilities of any one country have direct consequences globally.

Who are the Terrorist?
Here in Canada, the Canadian Government is using the terrorist act to justify the governments right to remove Canadian citizen's as well as others in other countries right to speak out. A prime example of this was a report put out by the Status of Women who spent tax payers money to justify harassing people, because they don't like the truth in their faces and wish to silence opposing views.

Electronic Frontier Canada's Blue Ribbon Campaign
Electronic Frontier Canada and other online civil liberty organizations around the world ask that a Blue Ribbon be worn or displayed to show support for the essential human right of freedom of expression, a fundamental and essential right in any free and democratic society.

Morality and Religion
Theists often claim that their religion is necessary for morality. Obviously this is not the case as most people are good, decent people whether they believe in gods or not. Actually, nontheists get their morals from the same place as theists: human compassion and empathy.

Faith Freedom
The movement of ex-Muslim secularists and humanists to lead Muslims out of faith of hate and into the fold of humanity. "Islam is a religion of peace". This is what our politically correct politicians keep telling us. But what is politically correct is not necessarily correct.

The Ethics of Humanism Without Religion
The common moral decencies are widely shared. They are essential to the survival of any human community. Meaningful coexistence cannot occur if they are consistently flouted. Handed down through countless generations, they are recognized throughout the world by friends and relatives, colleagues and coworkers, the native-born and immigrant, as basic rules of social intercourse. They are the foundation of moral education and are taught in the family and the schools.

JOHN K. SIMMONS
Professor of Religious Studies - A Western Illinois University Philosophy and Religious Studies Department. (Philosophy and religious studies are two independent academic disciplines housed in the same department. Because they are fundamentally concerned with human culture and values, both are in the humanities.)

Religion and Human Rights
The Center for Ethics and Social Policy at the Graduate Theological Union is analyzing: # Religious support for and opposition to international human rights law. # Human rights advocacy involving religious groups in diverse cultural contexts. # Inter-religious initiatives in support of international human rights law. This web site encourages and will publish research addressing these issues.

Coping With a Money Crunch: Values, Goals and Standards
Choice is a fundamental problem for all human beings. It is also a complex problem because there are so many new products and services and ways of doing things being developed all the time. It's even more difficult to make decisions when you're experiencing a money crunch.

Abortion
There are currently two political factions which call themselves "Pro-life" and "Pro-choice." These names are unfortunate and misleading. Their opposites reveal their flaws. Who would be "Pro- death?" And if choice means freedom, who would be "Pro-slavery?" The important values seem not to be mentioned. We should not be "Pro-suffering." And yet if all pregnancies are brought to term much avoidable suffering will certainly occur. And how about "Pro-stultification?" This is what will be brought about if young women lose their right to choose their full potential. Let's agree that we are all "Pro-joy" and "Pro-fulfillment." Then we can get down to the business of actually realizing these goals.

Abortion in Canada
Canada is one of only a few countries in the world with no laws limiting abortion rights in any way. While some non-legal obstacles exist, abortion access in Canada is among the freest in the world. While polls continue to show that the overwhelming majority of Canadians believe abortion should remain legal, those that support the completely unrestricted status quo are in the minority. About 100 000 abortions are performed in Canada every year.

Religious Tolerance
This is a large religious web site which promotes religious freedom, tolerance and diversity as positive cultural values. The site contains over 2,500 essays and menus. But it is very different from almost all other religious sites: We do not promote our own religious beliefs. We can't because we are a multi-faith group. We try to explain the full range of religious belief in North America, from Asatru to Christianity to Zoroastrianism. We report on controversial religious topics, from abortion access to equal rights and protections for homosexuals and bisexuals including same-sex marriage (our most popular topic). We try to explain all sides to each topic fairly and objectively. You will find much in this site that you will agree with, and much to disagree with. Enjoy!

Canadian Christian Church Directory
The directory functions on three levels. The foundation of the directory is an exhaustive listing of every church in Canada. This directory is searchable by geography, denomination, and church name. We want to include every single congregation who names Christ as Lord and Saviour. This primary service is free, so if your church isn't on the list, please submit it. We are well on the way to achieving this due to the cooperation of denominations who have sent us their listings either in text or database format(Thank You!). Others have submitted their local congregations one by one. We are compiling lists from telephone books, ministerial associations, denomination lists, and any other source we can find.

Church Directory - Canada
We would like to provide information on Canadian Churches in your area. Churches are listed by name and denomination. Listing all Churches is a formidable task, so we ask for your help. If your church is not listed, please submit the details on our "church submit form" and we will add your church so everyone has proper information. For consistency, we have used the same denomination categories as listed in the telephone book.
